Blessed Agn\u00e8s<\/p><\/div>\n

Founded in 1623, the monastery counts amongst its foundresses a young woman, sister Agnes of Jesus Galand<\/em>. \u00a0Born on November 17th<\/sup>, 1602, she was received in St Dominic’s Order as a lay Sister in 1621. She liked to care for future mothers and showed them great solicitude.<\/p>\n

In 1623. Agnes participated in the foundation of the monastery of Saint Catherine of Siena in Langeac and received the Dominican habit on October 4th<\/sup> that year.\u00a0 In 1627, she was elected prioress. By her prayers and her counsels, she guided the young Father Jean-Jacques\u00a0 Olier towards the foundation of the first seminaries of Saint Sulpice.<\/em><\/p>\n

Agnes died on October 19th<\/sup>, 1634, leaving her sisters with the specific vocation of praying for priests and for life in its beginnings in the womb of the mother.<\/p>\n

Agnes witnesses by her life that “God loves always<\/em>.” She reminds us of God’s love for us all.<\/p>\n

The Dominican nuns of Langeac remain deeply attached to the person of Mother Agnes of Jesus and maintain a close relation with the Dominican apostolic sisters of Le Puy.<\/p>\n

Mother Agnes was proclaimed “Venerable<\/em>” by Pope Pius VII on March 19th<\/sup>, 1808 and was beatified on November 20th<\/sup> 1994 by the Pope Saint John Paul II.<\/p>\n

Her body reposes in the chapel of the Dominican Nuns of Langeac.\u00a0 You are invited to confide your intentions near her reliquary.<\/p>\n
